Who is Jesus Christ?
"But what about
you?" Jesus Christ asked a group of people, "Who do you say I
am?" (Luke 9:20)
That is the single most
important question you will ever answer, for it determines your eternal destiny.
Who do you say Jesus Christ is?
He told us in the Bible who He
is. He was asked, "Are you then the Son of God?" He replied, "You
are right in saying I am." (Luke 22:70) He claimed that He could forgive
sins. (Luke 9:2)
He said that He was the one
and only way to God. "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
Since then, many people have
drawn their own conclusions about who He is. Some say He was a good man but not
the Son of God. How could He be a good man though, saying He was the way to God
and could forgive sins, if indeed He could not?
Others say that He did not
rise from the dead as He himself said He would (Mark 8:31), but that He died and
His body was hidden by His followers. But think about it; if the Romans could
have produced His dead body, they could have ended Christianity before it began.
If the Jewish rulers could have produced His body, they too surely would have.
If His followers had hidden His body, would they have been willing to keep the
lie a secret for decades, and be willing to die for it? After all, eleven of His
twelve closest followers were put to death for insisting He rose from the dead;
and the twelfth was exiled to an island.
